His unswerving obstinacy convinced me of the futility of my efforts. … “The prince,” I added, “has vowed that whoever steps out of this fort will be secure from danger, that he will even receive a safe passage from him, as well as whatever expenses he may require for the journey to his home.”
He promised to convey the prince’s message to his fellow-companions. “Is there anything further you wish to tell me?” he added. “I am impatient to join my master.” “May God,” I replied, “assist you in accomplishing your purpose.” “He has indeed assisted me!” he burst forth in exultation. “How else could I have been delivered from the darkness of my prison-home in Kand? How could I have reached this exalted stronghold?” No sooner had he uttered these words than, turning his face away from me, he vanished from my sight. 72_ACT9

      Some leave the fort

      Nabíl records:

As soon as he had joined his companions, Mullá Mihdí 73_ACT9 conveyed the prince’s message to them. On the afternoon of that same day, Siyyid Mírzá Husayn-i-Mutavallí
[the betrayer who had secretly sent the letter to the enemy about the death of Mullá Husayn], accompanied by his servant, left the fort and went directly to join the prince in his camp.
      The next day, Rasúl-i-Bahnimírí
74_ACT9 and a few other of his companions, unable to resist the ravages of famine, and encouraged by the explicit assurances or the prince, sadly and reluctantly separated themselves from their friends. No sooner had they stepped out of the fort than they were all instantly slain at the order of ‘Abbás-Qulí Khán-i-Láríjání
