Say: If men and Jinn should combine together to bring the like of this Qur’án, they cannot bring the like of it, though some of them help others. [Súra 17:88]

This Qur’án is not such as can be produced by other than Alláh; on the contrary it is a confirmation of [revelations] that went before it and a fuller explanation of the Book – wherein there is no doubt – from the Lord of the Worlds. Or do they say, “He forged it”? Say: Bring a súra like unto it, and call [to your aid] anyone you can, besides Alláh, if it be ye speak the truth! [Súra 10:37-38]

In other words, one of the main proofs of anyone claiming to be a Messenger of God is to produce verses like those in the Qur’án. That the Báb [and Bahá’u’lláh] did this played an important role among the Dawn-Breakers, as this was a very important metric used to judge Their claim of being Messengers of God.

The Qur’án was revealed over a period of twenty-three years. It consists of a total number of only 6,236 verses [excluding the Bismillah 35ACT5 ]. A significant point is that the Báb [and later Bahá’u’lláh] revealed many hundreds of thousands of verses. The Báb, refers to this several times in His Writings. Here are two examples:
He [the Báb] revealeth no less than a thousand verses within the space of five hours. 36ACT5
Verily the equivalent of that which God revealed unto Muhammad during twenty-three years, hath been revealed unto Me within the space of two days and two nights. However, as ordained by God, no distinction is to be drawn between the two. He, in truth, hath power over all things. 37ACT5
