      Khán. He will, no doubt, discover Your presence in this home, and will, I fear, grievously ill-treat You. 65ACT5
      The Báb, assured him with a response describing a principle that the Báb points out on other occasions too 66ACT5 :
      Fear not. I have committed Myself into the hands of God. My trust is in Him. Such is the power which He has bestowed upon Me that if it be My wish, I can convert these very stones into gems of inestimable value, and can instil into the heart of the most wicked criminal the loftiest conceptions of uprightness and duty. Of My own will have I chosen to be afflicted by My enemies, “that God might accomplish the thing destined to be done.”67ACT5, ”68ACT5

      The Mu’tamid Dies

      The Mu’tamid died on the day prophesied by the Báb. It was after a slight attack of fever that only lasted one night. It took only a few days following Mu’tamid’s death for his successor, Gurgín Khán, to find out that the Báb had not gone to Tihrán as everyone believed, but that the Mu’tamid had hidden the Báb in his private residence. Gurgín Khán then sent a secret message to the Sháh, explaining the situation. The Sháh, who was firmly convinced of the Mu’tamid’s loyalty, decided to meet the Báb. He issued an imperial mandate summoning the Báb to the capital [Tihrán] and instructed Gurgín Khán that the Báb should be disguised, and no one should know His identity, not even the mounted escorting guards.
