come, place upon your head the crown of immortal glory, and will shower upon you His inestimable blessings. Of the span of your earthly life there remain only three months and nine days, after which you shall, with faith and certitude, hasten to your eternal abode. 63ACT5, 64ACT5

The Mu’tamid had attained such faith, that this answer of the Báb only filled him with joy. He was one of those who were transformed by the Báb. In his eyes, the world’s pomp and pageantry faded into nothingness when brought face to face with the realities of the Revelation of the Báb. He began to prepare for his departure from this world. He settled his affairs and wrote his testament in which he bequeath all his possessions to the Báb. However, Gurgín Khán, his nephew who succeeded him, was the total opposite of the Mu’tamid. He was a greedy tyrant. After the Mu’tamid’s death, he destroyed the Mu’tamid’s will, and seized all his property for himself. And as we will see, he also deported the Báb.

Before the Mu’tamid’s passing, the Báb gave another prophecy regarding the future. The Mu’tamid knew that his successor was a ruthless person. One day he told the Báb:

As the hour of my departure approaches, I feel an undefinable joy pervading my soul. But I am apprehensive for You. I tremble at the thought of being compelled to leave You to the mercy of so ruthless a successor as Gurgín
