      “The mountains of Ádhirbáyján
      too have their claims”
Hujjat at that time was imprisoned in Tihrán at the instigation of the ‘ulamá of Zanján. Word reached Hujjat about the situation of the Báb. He immediately, although himself in prison in Tihrán, sent a message to his fellow believers in Zanján to collect whatever forces were necessary, and proceeding undercover, to go and free the Báb. These believers set out right away. On the way, they were joined by believers from Qazvín who had the same purpose in mind. The group made their way stealthily to the encampment where the Báb was being held. They got there at midnight and found the guards were asleep. Getting past them, they approached the Báb and begged Him to flee. But the Báb lovingly advised them to abandon their project and return home. Smiling, He said to them: “The mountains of Ádhirbáyján too have their claims.” 105ACT5

The believers followed the instructions of the Báb, and quietly left without freeing the Báb.

The Báb continued with His escort of guards to Tabríz. Such is the fearlessness, detachment and sacrifice of the Messengers of the God. Such are the ways of the Will of God.

“They who embrace My Cause, will eternally bless and glorify you.”

As they approached the gates of the city of Tabríz, Muhammad Big, the leader of the mounted guard escort knew that his time with the Báb was coming to an end. He and his men had started as hardened guards in charge of a Prisoner, but now they were changed men. As they prepared to deliver the Báb, Muhammad Big came to Him with tearful eyes, and said:

“The journey from Isfahan, has been long and arduous. I have failed to do my duty and to serve You as I ought. I crave Your forgiveness and pray You to vouchsafe me Your blessings.”

“Be assured,” the Báb replied, “I account you a member of My fold. They who embrace My Cause will eternally bless and glorify you, will extol your conduct and exalt your name.” 106ACT5
