      Mullá Alíy-i-Bastámí and his twelve companions

      Mullá ’Alíy-i-Bastámí
      was born the in the town of Bastám
      (northwestern Írán). He studied Islamic law as a youth in Mashhad, where, like Mullá Husayn, he became a mujtahid and also discovered Shaykhism. Also, like Mullá Husayn, he moved to Karbalá’ where he ultimately became a prominent disciple of Siyyid Kázim.
