      The Companions in the Síyáh-Chál

      Amongst the many companions in the Síyáh-Chál who were martyred15_ACT16, several were illustrious believers who had met and served the Báb, including two of the main amanuenses of the Báb.
      The first was Siyyid Husayn-i-Yazdí16_ACT16, who was also one of the Letters of the Living. He had been the amanuensis of the Báb during most of the Báb’s travels and imprisonments and very trusted by Him. “Such was his knowledge of the teachings of the Faith that the Báb, in a Tablet addressed to Mírzá Yahyá, urged the latter to seek enlightenment from him in whatever might pertain to the sacred Writings.” 17_ACT16 Siyyid Husayn-i-Yazdí had been with the Báb in Tabríz and had longed to be
