Bahá’u’lláh Himself related to Nabíl, the details of that meeting. The Amír-Kabír told Bahá’u’lláh directly he knew that without Bahá’u’lláh’s leadership the Bábí resistance could not have continued. He then added: “The ability and skill with which you have managed to direct and encourage those efforts could not fail to excite my admiration. … I feel it a pity that so resourceful a person should be left idle and not be given an opportunity to serve his country and sovereign.” The Amír-Kabír then added that after the Sháh returned from his current planned trip outside the capital, he would ask the Sháh to confer upon Bahá’u’lláh the position of Amír-Díván.
