At sunrise Fiddih [the family’s female servitor] took the samovar and tea-things to the room of my mother-in-law and, as usual, He went to His mother’s room to take tea. I followed Him there, … His mother had, at that moment, gone out of the room, and He was quietly drinking His tea. He raised His face to me, and received me with great kindness and affection, bidding me be seated. Then He passed to me what was left of the tea in His own cup, which I drank. His kindness restored my courage, and when He asked me what troubled me, I boldly replied … “You are no longer the same person I knew in our childhood. We grew up together, and we have been married for two years, living in this house, and now I see a different person before me.” … He smiled and said that although He had not wished to be seen by me in the condition of the previous night, God had ordained otherwise. “It is the will of God,” He said, “that you should have seen Me in the way you did last night, so that no shadow of doubt should ever cross your mind, and you should know with absolute certitude that I am that Manifestation of God Whose advent has been expected for a thousand years. This light radiates from My heart and from My being.” As soon as I heard Him speak these words, I believed in Him. I prostrated myself before Him and my heart became calm and assured. 103ACT2

      The year 1260 AH / 1844 CE

In a hadíth ascribed to Imám ‘Alí, it is recorded: “In Ghars the Tree of Divine guidance shall be planted.” 104ACT2 The Abjad numerical value of Ghars is 1260. The year 1260 AH of the Islamic calendar is the year 1844 of the Gregorian calendar. In another hadíth, it is recorded that when Imám Jafar (the sixth Imám) was asked about the year in which the Qá’im would appear, he replied: “Verily, in the year sixty, His Cause shall be revealed, and His name noised abroad.” 105ACT2 The year sixty again refers to the year 1260 AH / 1844 CE. Many are the prophecies not just in Islam but also in the Bible that point to the year 1260 AH / 1844 CE as the year when the Promised One will be made manifest.
