infant child to him to make him change his mind, but the efforts failed.19__ACT13 NabĂl records that when they got to MĂĄmaqĂĄnĂ, and AnĂs was being pushed to recant his faith, AnĂs had cried out:
âNever, will I renounce my Master. He is the essence of my faith, and the object of my truest adoration. In Him I have found my paradise, and in the observance of His law I recognise the ark of my salvation.â
On hearing this MĂĄmaqĂĄnĂ thundered:
âHold your peace! Such words betray your madness; I can well excuse the words for which you are not responsible.â
To which AnĂs retorted:
âI am not mad. Such a charge should rather be brought against you who have sentenced to death a man no less holy than the promised QĂĄâim. He is not a fool who has embraced His Faith and is longing to shed his blood in His path.â20_ACT13
The farrĂĄsh-bĂĄshĂ now delivered the BĂĄb and the fatwĂĄs ordering His execution to SĂĄm KhĂĄn, the head of the Armenian regiment. In a last-ditch effort to save AnĂs, he was going to be separated from the BĂĄb and placed with the other companions. But AnĂs burst into tears and begged to be allowed to stay with his Master. So, he was also delivered into the hands of SĂĄm KhĂĄn, who was ordered to execute him with the BĂĄb, if he did not recant his Faith. The BĂĄb and AnĂs were now put into a separate room by themselves to await their execution. [Note: Siyyid Husayn-i-YazdĂ
