The winter of that year was so severe, that the water the Báb used for His ablutions, froze in glistening drops upon His face. Of course, that did not prevent the Báb from performing His ablutions and prayers. 8ACT6 Nor did any of these hardships stop the copious flow of Revelation during this period, which included numerous tablets, commentaries, and both the Persian and Arabic Bayán. Shoghi Effendi in God Passes By states:
During His incarceration in Máh-Kú the Báb’s revelation was copious and included the Persian Bayán [Exposition], the Arabic Bayán, the Dalá’il-I’Sab’ih [The Seven Proofs], the tablets to Muhammad Sháh, and nine commentaries on the whole of the Qur’án – commentaries whose fate, alas, is unknown, and one of which, at least the Author Himself [the Báb] affirmed, surpassed in some respects, a book as deservedly famous as the Qayyúmu’l-Asmá. 9ACT6
Shaykh Hasan of Zunúz, who during this period stayed in the mosque below the castle, recounts:
The voice of the Báb, as He dictated the teachings and principles of His Faith, could be clearly heard by those who were dwelling at the foot of the mountain. The melody of His chanting, the rhythmic flow of the verses which streamed from His lips caught our ears and penetrated into our very souls. Mountain and valley re-echoed the majesty of His voice. Our hearts vibrated in their depths to the appeal of His utterance. 10ACT6
