… Such was the transformation wrought in the attitude of Mullá Husayn towards Quddús that the believers who gathered the next morning at his house were extremely surprised to find that the guest who the night before had occupied the seat of honour, and upon whom had been lavished such kindness and hospitality, had given his seat to his host and was now standing, in his place, at the threshold in an attitude of complete humility.38ACT6
To Mashhad in Khurásán
Mullá Husayn’s stay in Bárfurúsh was not long. The next morning when the believers had gathered in Quddús’ house, and were so surprised to find the switch in Mullá Husayn, Quddús instructed Mullá Husayn to do two things: first to go to the head of the
‘ulamá of the area [entitled
Sa’ídu’l-‘Ulamá ] and tell him about the Message of the New Day; and second to go to town of Mashhad in the province of Khurásán and there build a house and establish it as the centre for all the teaching activities in that region. Quddús added that he himself would then go there soon, and they could all stay together at that centre.
Mullá Husayn set out at sunrise of the very next day to go meet the Sa’ídu’l-‘Ulamá, who was an extremely bigoted and arrogant man. In spite of all his efforts, Mullá Husayn found that his discussions with the Sa’ídu’l-‘Ulamá were of no use. He then said to him:
My argument has failed to rouse you from your sleep of negligence. My deeds will in the days to come prove to you the power of the Message you have chosen to despise. 40ACT6
With that, Mullá Husayn, did not even return to Quddús, but asked one of those present, to take his message to Quddús:
Inasmuch as you did not specifically command me to seek your presence, I have determined to set out immediately for Khurásán. I proceed to carry out in their entirety those things which you have instructed me to perform. 41ACT6
Mullá Husayn now set out, “alone and with a heart detached from all else save God”42ACT6 , from Bárfurúsh in the province of Mázindarán for Mashhad in the province
