It is early 1845. Following the Báb’s instructions, Quddús leaves Búshihr and comes to Shíráz. He is carrying the Báb’s letter to His middle uncle, Hájí Mírzá Siyyid ‘Alí
. The Báb has also given Quddús a copy of one of His latest Writings – the
Khasá’il-i-Sab’ih [The Seven Qualifications] – a treatise in which the Báb sets out the essential requirements needed from those who have attained and accepted this new Revelation. He asks Quddús to share this together with the Báb’s loving embrace with the souls who accept His Message.
Of His three uncles,
1ACT4 the Báb was closest to his middle uncle, Hájí Mírzá Siyyid ‘Alí
, because he had taken care of the Báb after the Báb’s father’s passing. This middle uncle had always sensed there was something special about his Nephew but did not know exactly what. Arriving in Shíráz, Quddús arranges a visit with him and delivers the letter and greetings from the Báb. Quddús finds the uncle is eager to learn more about what has been happening with the Báb and receptive to learn the truth about his Nephew. Quddús therefore lays out the Báb’s claim to being the
Qá’im and the bearer of a new Revelation from God. These conversations with Quddús lead to the middle uncle’s acceptance of his Nephew’s Message and Station, making him the first person in Shíráz after the Letters of the Living to accept the Revelation of the Báb. It is June 1846.
2ACT4 This uncle will now consecrate his whole life to defending the Cause of the Báb, to shielding His Person, and will eventually lay down his life as one of the Seven Martyrs of Tihrán.
