The news of the massacre of the Bábí defenders of Tabarsí through trickery spread in the months that followed. Nabíl records:
We were preparing ourselves to leave for Mázindarán, when the news reached us that the defenders of the fort of Tabarsí had been treacherously slaughtered and that the fort itself had been levelled with the ground. We were filled with distress at the receipt of the appalling news and mourned the tragic fate of those who had so heroically defended their beloved Cause. 12_ACT11
