Epilogue
The Black Standard: It flew for eleven months
The events at BárfurĂşsh and Fort Shaykh TabarsĂ had been triggered with arrival of Mullá Husayn and his companions under the Black Standard to BárfurĂşsh at the start of October 1848. It fulfilled the prophecy of old announcing the coming of the Qáim. In the words of NabĂl:
That standard was unfurled at the command of the Báb, in the name of QuddĂşs, and by the hands of Mullá Husayn. It was carried aloft all the way from the city of Mashhad to the shrine of Shaykh TabarsĂ. For eleven months [July 1848 to May 1849]
