One day the great Siyyid Yahyá, surnamed Vahíd, was present there. As he sat without [meaning in the outer room], Táhirih listened to him from behind the veil. I was then a child, and was sitting on her lap. With eloquence and fervour, Vahíd was discoursing on the signs and verses that bore witness to the advent of the new Manifestation. She suddenly interrupted him and, raising her voice, vehemently declared: “O Yahyá! Let deeds, not words, testify to thy faith, if thou art a man of true learning. Cease idly repeating the traditions of the past, for the day of service, of steadfast action, is come. Now is the time to show forth the true signs of God, to rend asunder the veils of idle fancy, to promote the Word of God, and to sacrifice ourselves in His path. Let deeds, not words, be our adorning!”. 78ACT6

Táhirih and Bahá’u’lláh head towards Khurásán

Bahá’u’lláh arranged for Táhirih and Himself to leave Tihrán and travel to the province of Khurásán to meet up with Quddús, Mullá Husayn and the rest of the believers there. Táhirih’s departure was first and in secrecy, as the situation was still dangerous after her escape from Qazvín. She and her attendant left accompanied by Bahá’u’lláh’s brother Mírzá Músá [Áqáy-i-Kalím]. Outside Tihrán, Mírzá Músá providentially found a vacant house in an orchard, where Táhirih could stay with her attendant. After about a week, arrangements were made for them to travel to the next stop in the direction of Khurásán.

Soon after Táhirih had left, Bahá’u’lláh made arrangements and also departed for the province of Khurásán. 79ACT6
