From Máh-Kú to Chihríq
The Grand Vazír had his spies everywhere. They reported to him about the changes in ‘Alí Khán, his increasing devotion to the Báb and consequent laxity in enforcing strict confinement upon Him.
31ACT6 These reports caused fear and resentment to resurface in the Grand Vazír, who decided the best path was to transfer the Báb to another nearby prison. As predicted by the Báb, this was the castle of Chihríq, “the abode of Salmá”; the prison He entitled Jabal-i-Shadíd [the Grievous Mountain]. The words
Jabal-i-Shadíd [the Grievous Mountain]. The words Jabal-i-Shadíd have the same abjad numerical value as the word Chihríq.
It was twenty days after Naw-Rúz of 1848, when the Báb bade farewell to Máh-Kú. His stay in that prison castle had been nine months. Now began His incarceration in the prison castle of Chihríq, which would last a little over two years. 32ACT6
