      Táhirih’s Interrogation and her death sentence

      The influence that Táhirih was exerting on the leading women in the capital started to have an effect. Her teachings on the emancipation of women were winning the women over, but it was also causing them to have disputes with their husbands as they wanted more treatment as equals. The new Grand Vazír, Áqá-Khán-i-Núrí, sent two leading ulamá to examine Táhirih’s beliefs and call her to order. They had seven meetings with her, and during these Táhirih argued eloquently for the Cause of the Báb and His teachings. But the two ulamá would not accept her arguments and
